Armenia has become one of the region’s most practical destinations for relocation: full foreign ownership of companies is permitted, incorporation is fast, and there is a clear legal path from setting up a business to obtaining residence. Our partners and lawyers guide you through local legislation, register your company or branch efficiently, and support your operations once you are here. How to get a residence permit in Armenia

Foreign nationals can apply for residence status in Armenia; for entrepreneurs and company owners, the most common basis is business activity in the country. Armenia currently recognises temporary, permanent and special residence status, though the special status is being phased out under the 2026 immigration reform (see below). Applications and current requirements are handled through the Migration and Citizenship Service. We assess your situation and advise on the route that fits your circumstances.

Tax residency in Armenia

An individual is generally treated as an Armenian tax resident if they spend 183 days or more in the country within a 12-month period, or where Armenia is their centre of vital interests. Armenia also maintains a network of double-taxation treaties that can affect how your income is taxed. We explain the essentials in Double Taxation and Armenia. We advise on establishing tax residency and coordinating it with your business structure through our Tax Regulations practice; the tax authority is the State Revenue Committee.
